Strickland Engineering was the MPE Consultant for the conversion
of a vacant grocery store into a new 55,000 sq ft church
facility for the Cape First Assembly of God Church, Cape
Girardeau, Missouri. The new facilities included a 1200 seat
worship center, a licensed day-care center, video production
studios, educational space, office suite, and courtyard café & bookstore.
This relocation project for the congregation was a design/build
project of A.J. Brown Construction, Inc. Strickland Engineering
worked with the General Contractor, Architect, and Owner
throughout the design, bid, and construction phase of this
project to allow for a smooth relocation to the new facility.
The MPE system design for this project included the replacement
of all HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. The HVAC systems
were designed to utilize the existing structural members
without impacting the project budget and the worship center
acoustics. The plumbing systems included the addition of
a kitchen and the licensed day-care center. The existing
fire protection system was retro-fitted for the new spaces
within the facility. The existing electrical system components
were re-used within the new electrical system design. The
electrical design was coordinated with the Owner’s
audio-visual consultant for all of the specialized theatrical
lighting, sound systems, video production systems, and lighting
controls.
